Markets and Community Gatherings
The San Tan Feastival returns Saturday, Sept. 19, from 5:30 to 9 p.m. in the San Tan Valley Walmart parking lot, with 15 to 25 food trucks, live music, and family activities. Admission is free.
Earlier that same day, the Young Entrepreneurs Market runs 1 to 3 p.m. in the San Tan Heights community, where kid-run booths sell handmade goods. Admission is free.
The C.A.M.P. Farmers Market is at LifePoint Church on Saturday, Sept. 5, from 8 to 11 a.m.; organizers suggest a $15 donation to shop the market-style experience.
On Friday, Sept. 18, the Craft Supply Swap at McKell's Craft Room (6 p.m.) lets crafters trade materials they are not using. And on Thursday, Sept. 17, the Johnson Ranch Community Blood Drive with Vitalant runs 3 to 6:30 p.m. at the Lakeview Recreation Area behind Walgreens.
Out at San Tan Mountain Regional Park
Park rangers lead free programs most weeks (a $10 per-vehicle park entry applies). September includes a Sunrise Hike on Sept. 2, a Scorpion Safari evening walk on Sept. 4, a Crested Saguaro sunset hike on Sept. 9, a Plant Hike and drop-in Tortoise Talk on Sept. 12, and a Pollinators Hike with butterfly monitoring on Sept. 16.
The month closes with two after-dark programs on Saturday, Sept. 26: a Full Moon Hike from 5:30 to 7 p.m., followed by Bug Theatre and Scorpion Safari from 7:30 to 9 p.m.
At the San Tan Valley Library
The library's Bronze Room hosts a full weekly slate: a Tuesday adult arts-and-crafts class, Wednesday building-and-engineering challenges for kids, Friday chair yoga and a yarn-crafters group, and Saturday mahjong.
