Central Arizona College Expanding Nursing Program at San Tan Valley Campus
Central Arizona College (CAC) is expanding its nursing program at its San Tan Valley campus with new, dedicated classrooms. The expansion adds a local option for students who previously had to commute farther for in-person nursing coursework, and increases the number of students the San Tan Valley campus can serve.
Why the Expansion
Jocelyn Nelms, Director of Nursing at Central Arizona College, said the program has a track record of high pass rates and community impact. "With a significant portion of our students living in the San Tan corridor, establishing classes at the San Tan Campus allows us to better serve this fast-growing region and support local healthcare needs," Nelms said. "We are excited to expand opportunities that improve both career access and community health outcomes."
The new classrooms are also expected to open up additional clinical placement opportunities with nearby hospitals and clinics for students pursuing RN and CNA credentials.
Ribbon Cutting and Open House
CAC will host a Ribbon Cutting and Open House at its San Tan Valley campus, located at 3736 E. Bella Vista Road, San Tan Valley, on August 13 from 4–7 p.m. The event is open to students, healthcare partners, and community members, with tours planned of the nursing simulation lab and skills lab.
From Brian
When a private institution puts real capital into physical infrastructure in a specific area — new classrooms and a dedicated program, not just a satellite office — that's a meaningful signal. It shows an outside organization sees enough here to make that kind of investment. For anyone tracking San Tan Valley, that's one more sign of the ongoing investment happening in the area, alongside the town's new municipal status.
